Cleopatra

Cleopatra VII was the last active ruler of the Ptolemaic Kingdom of Egypt. Her alliances with Julius Caesar and Mark Antony shaped Rome’s struggle over Egypt.

Julius Caesar: Roman general and statesman who became dictator and played a central role in the collapse of the Roman Republic. His alliance with Cleopatra began after his intervention in the Alexandrian civil war.
Ptolemaic Kingdom: A Hellenistic kingdom based in Egypt, ruled by the Macedonian Greek dynasty founded by Ptolemy I. Cleopatra’s authority rested on this kingdom’s institutions and resources.
