Colombian Conservative Party

Founded in 1849, the Colombian Conservative Party is one of Colombia’s historic political parties. It traditionally supported centralized government and a prominent public role for the Catholic Church.

Mariano Ospina Rodríguez: A Colombian politician who helped found the Conservative Party and served as president from 1857 to 1861. He co-founded the party in 1849 and helped establish its early political identity.
