Douglas Mawson

Douglas Mawson (1882–1958) was an Australian geologist and Antarctic explorer who led major expeditions to Antarctica and helped establish Australia’s Antarctic research program.

Australasian Antarctic Expedition: A 1911–1914 expedition led by Douglas Mawson to explore and study Antarctica south of Australia. Mawson’s first major Antarctic expedition produced extensive scientific surveys and established a lasting research legacy.
