Edwardian era

The Edwardian era is the period of British history associated with Edward VII’s reign, from 1901 to 1910, sometimes extended to the outbreak of World War I in 1914.

People's Budget: A 1909 British budget that proposed higher taxes on land and income to fund social reforms and naval spending. Its rejection by the House of Lords triggered a constitutional crisis during Edward VII’s reign.
Edward VII: King of the United Kingdom and British dominions from 1901 until his death in 1910. His accession gives the era its name and conventional starting point.
