Electric circuit

An electric circuit is a connected path through which electric current can flow. It may include sources, wires, loads, and control components.

Electric current: The flow of electric charge through a material or other medium. Current flows when a circuit provides a connected path.
Electric cell: A device that converts chemical energy into electrical energy through electrochemical reactions. An electric cell supplies the potential difference that drives current.
Electronic circuit: A circuit that controls electrical signals using components such as transistors and diodes. Electronic circuits use connected paths to process and control signals.
Open circuit: A broken or incomplete conducting path through which steady current cannot flow. It contrasts with a closed circuit, whose path permits current.
Electrical power: The rate at which electrical energy is transferred or converted. Circuit voltage and current determine how quickly electrical energy is delivered.
Voltage: The electric potential difference between two points, measured in volts. A voltage source drives charge around a closed circuit.
Resistor: A component designed to provide a specified electrical resistance. Resistors limit current and create voltage drops in circuits.
Printed circuit board: An insulating board with conductive tracks that connect electronic components. A printed circuit board provides durable paths for a device's circuit.
Direct current: Electric current that flows predominantly in one direction. Direct-current circuits keep current direction fixed over time.
Electric power system: The interconnected infrastructure that generates, transmits, and distributes electrical energy. Power systems connect vast networks of circuits to deliver electricity.
