Elizabeth Peabody

Elizabeth Palmer Peabody (1804–1894) was an American educator, publisher, and reformer who helped establish kindergarten education in the United States and trained its teachers.

Kindergarten: An educational approach for young children that uses play, guided activity, and social learning. Peabody helped introduce and promote this form of early education in the United States.
