Emirate of Fujairah

The Emirate of Fujairah is one of the seven emirates of the United Arab Emirates, occupying much of its eastern coast along the Gulf of Oman.

United Arab Emirates: A federation of seven emirates on the southeastern Arabian Peninsula. Fujairah is one of the federation’s seven constituent emirates.
Federal Supreme Council of the United Arab Emirates: The UAE’s highest constitutional authority, composed of the rulers of its seven emirates. Fujairah’s ruler participates in the body that elects the UAE president.
Port of Fujairah: A major commercial port on the Gulf of Oman in the Emirate of Fujairah. Its location outside the Strait of Hormuz supports shipping and fuel services.
Trucial States: A group of sheikhdoms on the southern Persian Gulf coast under British treaty relations before 1971. Fujairah was among the sheikhdoms that joined to form the UAE.
Gulf of Oman: A gulf connecting the Arabian Sea with the Strait of Hormuz. Fujairah’s coastline faces this gulf rather than the Persian Gulf.
Ruler of Fujairah: The hereditary head of government and ruling family in the Emirate of Fujairah. The ruler leads the emirate’s local government within the UAE federation.
Fujairah Oil Industry Zone: An industrial zone for petroleum storage and related businesses near the Port of Fujairah. It anchors the emirate’s role in oil storage and trading.
United Arab Emirates independence: The establishment of the United Arab Emirates as an independent state on 2 December 1971. Fujairah joined the federation at its founding.
Hajar Mountains: A mountain range extending across parts of the eastern Arabian Peninsula. The range runs through Fujairah and shapes its inland terrain.
Constitution of the United Arab Emirates: The constitution establishing the institutions and powers of the United Arab Emirates. It sets the federal framework within which Fujairah exercises local authority.
