Fire safety

Fire safety comprises measures that prevent fires, limit their spread, and protect people and property from fire-related harm.

Fire triangle: A model describing fire as requiring heat, fuel, and oxygen. Removing any one of these three elements can prevent ignition or extinguish a fire.
Fire alarm system: A system that detects fire conditions and alerts occupants or emergency services. Alarms connect detection to evacuation and response.

Fire protection engineering: The engineering discipline that analyzes fire hazards and designs protective systems. It supplies technical methods for turning safety goals into engineered safeguards.
Fire code: A set of legal requirements governing fire prevention and protection in buildings and activities. Codes establish enforceable minimum safeguards and responsibilities.
