Franco-Siamese Crisis

The 1893 confrontation between France and Siam over territorial claims in Laos, culminating in a French naval blockade and Siamese cession of lands east of the Mekong River.

Paknam Incident: The July 1893 clash in which French gunboats forced their way past Siamese defenses at the mouth of the Chao Phraya River. This armed encounter escalated the dispute and helped bring French ships to Bangkok.
