French Sudan

French Sudan was a French colonial territory in West Africa, administered within French West Africa. It became the independent Republic of Mali in 1960.

French West Africa: A federation of French colonial territories in West Africa, established in 1895 and dissolved in 1958. French Sudan was one of this federation’s constituent territories.
