Fungicide

A pesticide that kills fungi or inhibits their growth. Fungicides are used to protect crops, stored products, materials, and other plants from fungal disease or damage.

Ergosterol biosynthesis inhibitors: Fungicides that disrupt the production of ergosterol, a membrane component essential to many fungi. These compounds weaken fungal membranes by blocking a target absent from plants and animals.
Crop protection: Methods used to prevent or reduce damage to crops from pests, diseases, and weeds. Fungicides are one tool within crop protection, alongside other control methods.
Fungicide resistance: The inherited ability of a fungal population to survive fungicide doses that once controlled it. Repeated exposure to a single mode of action can select resistant fungal strains.

Plant disease management: Strategies for preventing and controlling diseases that affect plants. Fungicides work best as part of a broader plan that includes monitoring and cultural practices.
Integrated pest management: An approach that combines monitoring and multiple control methods to manage pests with reduced reliance on pesticides. Integrating fungicides with nonchemical methods can slow resistance and limit unnecessary use.
Insecticide: A pesticide used to kill or control insects. Insecticides target insects rather than fungal pathogens.
Copper fungicide: A fungicide containing copper compounds that suppress fungi and some other plant pathogens. Copper-based products connect early disease control with fungicides still used today.
