Fustat

Fustat was founded in Egypt in 641 as the first Arab capital there. It grew into a major medieval city beside the Nile and later became part of Cairo.

Arab conquest of Egypt: The seventh-century conquest that brought Egypt under Muslim Arab rule. The conquest created the political conditions for founding Fustat in 641.
