Georgy Zhukov

Georgy Zhukov was a Soviet career officer and marshal who led major Red Army operations in World War II, including the defense of Moscow and the capture of Berlin.

Battle of Moscow: A 1941–1942 battle in which Soviet forces halted the German advance on Moscow and drove it back. Zhukov coordinated the Soviet defense and counteroffensive that stopped the German drive on the capital.
1st Belorussian Front: A major Red Army formation that fought on the central sector of the Eastern Front during World War II. Zhukov commanded this front during the final advance on Berlin.
Joseph Stalin: The Soviet leader who ruled the USSR during World War II and made its highest military and political decisions. Stalin appointed Zhukov to critical commands and later removed him from positions of influence.
