Giza pyramid complex

The Giza pyramid complex is a group of Old Kingdom Egyptian pyramids, temples, causeways, cemeteries, and the Great Sphinx on the Giza Plateau. Its largest pyramids were built for Khufu, Khafre, and Menkaure.

Old Kingdom of Egypt: The period of ancient Egyptian history spanning approximately 2686–2181 BCE, when royal power and pyramid building flourished. The three Giza pyramids belong to this era of centralized royal power.
Great Pyramid of Giza: The pyramid built as the tomb of Pharaoh Khufu at Giza, the largest ancient Egyptian pyramid. It is the complex’s dominant structure and the principal monument built for Khufu.
