Hebei

Hebei is a province in northern China that surrounds Beijing and Tianjin and borders the Bohai Sea. Its capital is Shijiazhuang.

North China: North China is a geographic and cultural region centered on the northern part of China’s mainland. Hebei lies within this broad region, whose plains and history shape the province.
Xiong'an New Area: Xiong'an New Area is a state-planned development zone in Hebei, established in 2017. The zone is intended to host functions relocated from Beijing and spur regional development.
Ji Province: Ji was an ancient Chinese administrative region associated with parts of present-day northern China. The name and territory are linked to early histories of the area now called Hebei.
Beijing Municipality: Beijing Municipality is a province-level administrative division of China governed directly by the central government. It is geographically surrounded by Hebei but is not part of the province.
Beijing: Beijing is the capital of the People’s Republic of China and a municipality in northern China. Hebei surrounds Beijing, though the capital is administered separately from the province.
Tangshan: Tangshan is an industrial city in eastern Hebei, near the Bohai Sea. Its steelmaking and port connections exemplify the province’s industrial and coastal economy.
Zhili: Zhili was a historical administrative region directly governed by China’s central government, centered on the capital. Hebei’s predecessor was known as Zhili when it directly surrounded the imperial capital.
Tianjin Municipality: Tianjin Municipality is a province-level administrative division and major port city governed directly by China’s central government. Its separate status contrasts with Hebei’s provincial administration despite their shared border.
Tianjin: Tianjin is a major port city and municipality in northern China, southeast of Beijing. Like Beijing, Tianjin is enclosed by Hebei but is administered separately.
Qinhuangdao: Qinhuangdao is a port city in northeastern Hebei on the Bohai Sea. Its seaport links the province’s inland industries to maritime trade.
