Heinrich Hertz

Heinrich Hertz (1857–1894) was a German physicist whose experiments produced and detected electromagnetic waves, confirming a key prediction of James Clerk Maxwell’s theory.

Hertzian oscillator: A spark-gap circuit that generates rapidly oscillating electrical currents and electromagnetic waves. Hertz used this transmitter to produce the waves tested in his experiments.
James Clerk Maxwell: Scottish physicist whose equations unified electricity, magnetism, and light. Maxwell’s theory predicted the electromagnetic waves Hertz set out to test.
August Kundt: German physicist known for experiments on sound and light and for the Kundt’s tube method. Kundt supervised Hertz’s doctoral work and helped shape his experimental training.
