Hindu Kush

The Hindu Kush is a mountain range in Central and South Asia, extending across Afghanistan and Pakistan into parts of Tajikistan and China. Its high peaks and passes shape regional climates, travel, and political boundaries.

Tirich Mir: Tirich Mir is the highest mountain in the Hindu Kush, rising to 7,708 meters in Pakistan’s Chitral District. It is the range’s highest summit and anchors its high-elevation geography.
Silk Road: The Silk Road was a network of overland and maritime trade routes connecting East Asia with western Eurasia. Its central Asian routes included corridors around the Hindu Kush.

Khyber Pass: The Khyber Pass is a mountain passage between Afghanistan and Pakistan through the Spin Ghar range. Its strategic passage connected the Kabul region with the plains of South Asia.
Glacier: A glacier is a persistent mass of ice formed where accumulated snow exceeds melting over many years. Glaciers store water in the Hindu Kush and feed rivers during seasonal melt.
Alexander the Great: Alexander the Great was a Macedonian king who conquered the Persian Empire and campaigned into Central Asia and northwestern India. His campaigns crossed routes around the Hindu Kush and shaped classical accounts of the region.
Chitral River: The Chitral River is a river in northern Pakistan that flows west into Afghanistan, where it is known as the Kunar River. It drains valleys on the southern side of the Hindu Kush.
Wakhan Corridor: The Wakhan Corridor is a narrow Afghan territory extending east between Tajikistan and Pakistan to China. It crosses high terrain at the Hindu Kush’s northeastern junction with the Pamirs.
