Hydraulic motor

A rotary actuator that converts pressurized hydraulic fluid into mechanical torque and rotation. Its output speed and torque depend on fluid flow, pressure, and motor design.

Hydraulic displacement: The volume of fluid a hydraulic machine transfers or consumes per shaft revolution. It links fluid flow to the motor’s rotational speed and torque.
Hydraulic pump: A machine that moves hydraulic fluid through a system by converting mechanical input into fluid flow. The pump supplies the flow that drives a hydraulic motor.
Hydrostatic transmission: A power transmission system that uses a pump and hydraulic motor to transfer mechanical energy. It varies vehicle speed and direction by controlling hydraulic flow.
Hydraulic cylinder: A linear actuator that converts hydraulic pressure into force and straight-line motion. It produces linear movement rather than the motor’s continuous rotation.
Hydraulic pressure: Force exerted by hydraulic fluid per unit area within a system. Pressure difference across the motor produces its turning force.
Hydraulic fluid: A liquid that transmits power and lubricates components in a hydraulic system. Its properties affect motor lubrication, leakage, heat, and response.
Wheel motor: A motor integrated into or directly coupled to a vehicle wheel to drive it. Hydraulic wheel motors deliver torque directly at mobile machinery’s wheels.
Electric motor: A machine that converts electrical energy into mechanical rotation or motion. It provides rotary power without a pressurized-fluid circuit.
Hydraulic flow rate: The volume of fluid passing a point in a hydraulic system per unit time. Flow rate determines motor speed when displacement is fixed.
Directional control valve: A valve that routes fluid among hydraulic passages to control actuator direction or operation. Changing its flow paths can reverse or stop motor rotation.
