Hymn

A hymn is a song of praise or devotion, commonly sung in religious worship. Its words and music are often designed for communal singing.

Hymn tune: A melody composed or adapted for singing a hymn text. A hymn tune gives the text a singable musical form.
Hymnody: The composition, study, and practice of hymns and hymn singing. Hymnody encompasses the traditions and practices surrounding hymns.
