Incheon

Incheon is a port city in northwestern South Korea, on the Yellow Sea beside Seoul. It is home to Incheon International Airport and a major gateway for travel and trade.

Treaty of Ganghwa: A 1876 treaty between Japan and Korea that opened Korean ports to Japanese trade and influence. It opened Incheon, then called Jemulpo, to foreign commerce and accelerated its growth as a port.
Incheon International Airport: South Korea’s principal international airport, located on Yeongjong Island in Incheon. Its global flight network makes Incheon the country’s leading international air gateway.

Gimpo International Airport: An airport in western Seoul serving domestic routes and some short-haul international flights. Its closer-in location and route mix distinguish it from Incheon International Airport’s global hub role.
Jemulpo: The historical name for Incheon’s port district, especially during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Jemulpo grew into the international port that helped shape modern Incheon.
Incheon Bridge: A long cable-stayed bridge linking Songdo with Yeongjong Island and Incheon International Airport. It provides a direct road connection between the airport island and the urban mainland.
