Jean-Luc Godard

Jean-Luc Godard (1930–2022) was a French-Swiss film director, screenwriter, and critic who helped pioneer the French New Wave and reshaped cinematic form through editing, sound, and political experimentation.

Breathless: A 1960 French crime film directed by Jean-Luc Godard, known for jump cuts and an improvised, self-conscious style. Its jump cuts and handheld filming announced Godard’s break with polished studio conventions.
