Juxtaposition

Juxtaposition places contrasting images, ideas, or things side by side so their relationship produces meaning or emphasis.

Contrast: A perceived difference between elements that makes their qualities or meanings more distinct. Juxtaposition depends on a difference that becomes noticeable when elements share a frame.
Literary device: A technique writers use to produce effects or convey meaning in a text. Juxtaposition is a literary device that connects details through their placement.
