Knight Bachelor

A Knight Bachelor is a man who has received a British knighthood without belonging to an order of chivalry. It is the oldest British knighthood, and its recipients use the title “Sir.”

Knighthood: A rank or honor historically associated with mounted warriors and later awarded for service. Knight Bachelor preserves a form of knighthood outside membership in an order.
British honours list: An official announcement of people receiving British state honors. Knight Bachelors are commonly named in honours lists after nomination and review.
