Kurdistan Workers' Party

The Kurdistan Workers' Party, commonly known as the PKK, is a Kurdish militant and political organization founded in Turkey in 1978. It has fought the Turkish state over Kurdish rights and autonomy.

PKK insurgency: An armed conflict between the PKK and the Turkish state that began in 1984. This conflict is the party’s central armed campaign against Turkey.
