Kurgan

A kurgan is an earthen or stone burial mound, especially one built by ancient steppe peoples across Eurasia. It often covers a grave or burial chamber and may contain objects placed with the dead.

Burial mound: An artificial mound raised over a burial or burial site. Kurgans are a distinctive Eurasian form of this widespread funerary structure.
Yamnaya culture: A Copper Age and Early Bronze Age culture of the Pontic–Caspian steppe, known for its burial mounds. Its mound burials are among the best-known early kurgan traditions.
Archaeology: The study of human history through the recovery and analysis of material remains. Kurgans are archaeological sites whose contents and construction document past societies.

Catacomb culture: A Bronze Age culture of the Pontic–Caspian steppe named for its distinctive underground grave chambers. Its chambered graves show how steppe burial architecture developed after Yamnaya traditions.
