L. L. Zamenhof

L. L. Zamenhof was a Polish ophthalmologist who created Esperanto and published its first guide in 1887 under the pseudonym Doktoro Esperanto.

Unua Libro: The 1887 booklet that introduced Esperanto’s grammar and vocabulary to the public. Zamenhof used this book to launch the language under the name Doktoro Esperanto.
Esperanto grammar: The rules governing word formation, inflection, and sentence structure in Esperanto. Zamenhof presented a compact grammar intended to make the language comparatively easy to learn.
Ludwik Lejzer Zamenhof: The full Polish form of the name of the physician and language creator commonly called L. L. Zamenhof. This is the same person under a fuller form of his name.
Volapük: An international auxiliary language created by Johann Martin Schleyer and published in 1880. Volapük preceded Esperanto and competed for the role of a planned shared language.
