Lindisfarne

Lindisfarne is a tidal island off Northumberland, England, where an Anglo-Saxon monastery founded in the seventh century became a major center of Christianity and learning.

Aidan of Lindisfarne: A seventh-century Irish monk who founded the monastery at Lindisfarne and led its community as bishop. King Oswald invited Aidan to establish a mission in Northumbria, making him the monastery’s founding figure.
