Lois Weber

Lois Weber (1879–1939) was an American silent-film director, screenwriter, producer, and actress. Her films combined formal experimentation with engagement in social issues, including birth control and poverty.

Hypocrites: A 1915 Lois Weber film that uses a nude figure of Truth to criticize hypocrisy. Its superimposed nude figure became one of Weber’s most discussed visual devices.
