Long Turkish War

The Long Turkish War was a Habsburg–Ottoman conflict fought from 1593 to 1606, chiefly in Hungary and the Balkans. It ended with the Peace of Zsitvatorok.

Battle of Sisak: A 1593 battle in which Habsburg and Croatian forces defeated an Ottoman army near Sisak. The Ottoman defeat helped trigger the war in 1593.
Ottoman–Habsburg frontier: A shifting border zone where the Ottoman and Habsburg empires competed for territory and influence. Raids and fortress disputes along this frontier escalated into open war.

Treaty of Vienna (1606): An agreement between the Habsburg monarchy and Bocskai that recognized Transylvanian and Hungarian political rights. It ended the domestic revolt alongside the Ottoman peace negotiations.
Siege of Esztergom (1595): A 1595 siege in which Christian forces captured Esztergom from the Ottomans. Its recapture illustrates the war’s contested control of Hungarian fortresses.
Rudolf II, Holy Roman Emperor: A Habsburg ruler who was Holy Roman Emperor from 1576 to 1612 and king of Hungary and Croatia. His monarchy fought the Ottoman Empire and struggled to fund the campaign.
