Magnitogorsk

Magnitogorsk is an industrial city in Russia’s Chelyabinsk Oblast, on the Ural River. Its development and identity have been closely tied to iron and steel production.

Magnitnaya Mountain: A large iron-ore deposit in the southern Urals beside which Magnitogorsk developed. The mountain’s ore deposits drew the steel industry that shaped the city.
