Malacca Sultanate

A Malay Muslim sultanate centered on the port of Malacca that flourished from the 15th to early 16th century as a major Southeast Asian trading power.

Strait of Malacca: A narrow sea passage between the Malay Peninsula and Sumatra connecting the Indian Ocean with the South China Sea. The sultanate’s port controlled a strategic point along this maritime route.
