Mamluk architecture

Mamluk architecture is the building tradition that flourished under Mamluk rule in Egypt and Syria from the thirteenth through sixteenth centuries. It is known for monumental religious and charitable complexes, richly patterned stonework, and distinctive domes and minarets.

Madrasa: A Muslim educational institution, often combining teaching with prayer and student accommodation. Mamluk patrons commonly incorporated teaching spaces into monumental religious complexes.
