Mangosuthu Buthelezi

Mangosuthu Buthelezi (1928–2023) was a South African Zulu political leader who founded and headed the Inkatha Freedom Party and served as a national government minister.

Inkatha Freedom Party: A South African political party founded in 1975 as the Inkatha National Cultural Liberation Movement. Buthelezi founded the movement and led the party for decades.
Zulu people: A Nguni-speaking ethnic group whose historic homeland is in southeastern Africa, especially KwaZulu-Natal. Buthelezi grounded his political base in Zulu identity and institutions.
