Mapungubwe

Mapungubwe was a southern African kingdom and stone-walled settlement near the Limpopo River that flourished from about 1220 to 1290, before Great Zimbabwe.

K2 Culture: An Iron Age society that occupied the Mapungubwe Hill area before Mapungubwe’s emergence. K2 communities preceded the kingdom and laid foundations for its settlement.
