Mass concentration

Mass concentration is the mass of a constituent divided by the volume of the mixture or solution containing it. It is commonly expressed in units such as grams per liter.

Mass: A measure of the amount of matter in an object or sample. The numerator is the constituent’s mass.
Mass concentration of air pollutants: The mass of an airborne pollutant in a unit volume of air. Air-quality reports commonly express particulate matter as micrograms per cubic meter.
Mass fraction: The mass of a constituent divided by the total mass of the mixture. It uses total mixture mass rather than mixture volume as the denominator.
