Muhammad Ali dynasty

The Muhammad Ali dynasty was the ruling house of Egypt from 1805 until the 1952 revolution ended the monarchy. Founded by Muhammad Ali Pasha, it oversaw Egypt’s transformation into a modern state and its emergence from Ottoman rule.

Muhammad Ali Pasha: The Ottoman Albanian commander who became Egypt’s ruler in 1805 and founded its ruling dynasty. His appointment as governor began the dynasty’s rule and state-building project.
