Niger Delta

The Niger Delta is a vast network of rivers, wetlands, and estuaries in southern Nigeria, where the Niger River divides into distributaries before reaching the Gulf of Guinea.

Niger River: A major West African river that flows southeast from Guinea through Mali and Niger into Nigeria. Its final course supplies the water and sediment that form the delta.
River delta: A landform built where a river deposits sediment as it enters a standing body of water. The Niger Delta is a large, branching example of this landform.
