Nusantara

Nusantara is a Malay and Indonesian name for the island world of Southeast Asia, especially the Indonesian archipelago. Its scope and political meaning have shifted across historical and modern uses.

Majapahit Empire: A Javanese empire that flourished from the late thirteenth to the fifteenth century. Fourteenth-century texts associated Nusantara with islands beyond Majapahit’s core realm.
Indonesia: A sovereign archipelagic country in Southeast Asia, comprising thousands of islands. In contemporary Indonesian usage, Nusantara often names the national island realm.
