Occitan literature

Occitan literature is writing composed in Occitan, the Romance language of southern France and neighboring regions. Its traditions span medieval lyric poetry, religious and narrative works, and modern writing.

Troubadour: A medieval poet-composer who wrote lyric songs, especially in Occitan. Troubadours created the most celebrated early body of Occitan writing.
Occitan language: A Romance language spoken in southern France and neighboring parts of Europe. Its regional varieties and history frame the literature's language and readership.
