Pierre Boulez

Pierre Boulez (1925–2016) was a French composer, conductor, and cultural administrator who shaped postwar classical music and founded IRCAM, a Paris center for music and technology.

Serialism: A compositional method that organizes musical parameters through ordered series, especially pitches. Boulez extended serial organization beyond pitch in works such as Structures I.
