Proclus

Proclus (c. 412–485 CE) was a Greek Neoplatonist philosopher and mathematician who led Plato’s Academy in Athens and wrote influential commentaries on Euclid’s Elements.

Neoplatonism: A philosophical tradition that interprets reality as an ordered procession from a supreme first principle. Proclus systematized this tradition into a hierarchy of reality and knowledge.
Plutarch of Athens: A fifth-century Athenian philosopher who led Plato’s Academy and taught Proclus. He initiated Proclus into the Academy’s Platonic curriculum.
