Quarterback

The offensive position in American and Canadian football that directs plays and usually throws or hands off the ball. Quarterbacks also run with the ball in some plays.

Snap (football): The act of putting the ball into play by moving it from the center to a teammate. The quarterback usually receives the snap to begin an offensive play.
