Ritwik Ghatak

Ritwik Ghatak was an Indian film director, screenwriter, and playwright whose films portrayed Bengal’s Partition and the lives of displaced people.

The Cloud-Capped Star: A 1960 Bengali film about a refugee family and its self-sacrificing daughter, directed by Ritwik Ghatak. Its Nita embodies the personal cost of a family’s survival after Partition.
