Saionji Kinmochi

Saionji Kinmochi (1849–1940) was a Japanese politician and diplomat who served twice as prime minister and became the last surviving genrō, the elder statesmen who advised the emperor.

Itō Hirobumi: A Japanese statesman who helped establish the Meiji constitutional system and served four times as prime minister. As a fellow genrō, Itō helped shape the political order in which Saionji served.
Genrō: Elder statesmen who informally advised Japan’s emperor and influenced the selection of prime ministers. Saionji was the last surviving member of this influential group.
