Salt March

A 1930 campaign of nonviolent civil disobedience in which Mahatma Gandhi and supporters marched to the Arabian Sea and made salt in defiance of British colonial laws.

Salt Act 1882: A British Indian law that gave the colonial government control over salt production and sale and imposed a salt tax. The law Gandhi selected as a visible, widely resented target for civil disobedience.
