Scottish diaspora

The Scottish diaspora comprises communities of Scottish origin living outside Scotland and the cultural, familial, and institutional networks connecting them.

Highland Clearances: The displacement of many tenant farmers and smallholders from the Scottish Highlands during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. Clearance-era eviction drove migration from the Highlands to cities and overseas destinations.
