Seonjo of Joseon

Seonjo was the 14th king of Korea’s Joseon dynasty, ruling from 1567 to 1608. His reign included the Japanese invasions of Korea and the court’s flight north.

Japanese invasions of Korea (1592–1598): Toyotomi Hideyoshi’s attempted conquest of Korea, fought in two campaigns from 1592 to 1598. These invasions became the defining military crisis of Seonjo’s reign.
Yi Sun-sin: A Korean naval commander who won major victories against Japanese forces during the invasions of 1592–1598. His naval victories checked Japanese supply lines, though Seonjo’s court distrusted him.
