Serbian Revolution

A period of Serbian uprisings and political reforms from 1804 to 1835 that ended Ottoman rule in Serbia and established an autonomous Serbian state.

Dahije: Renegade Janissary leaders who seized power in the Belgrade Pashalik in the late eighteenth century. Their rule and violence against Serbian leaders helped trigger the First Serbian Uprising.
First Serbian Uprising: The Serbian revolt against Ottoman rule from 1804 to 1813, led by Karađorđe Petrović. It began the revolution and created the first insurgent government.
