Seven-card stud

Seven-card stud is a poker variant in which players receive seven cards, some face up and some face down, and use their best five-card hand to win.

Third street: The first betting round in seven-card stud, after each player receives two hidden cards and one face-up card. It opens the hand with the first visible card and the bring-in bet.
Poker hand rankings: The ordered hierarchy used to compare poker hands, from high card through royal flush. They determine which five-card selection wins at showdown.
Texas hold 'em: A poker variant in which players combine private hole cards with shared community cards to make a five-card hand. Unlike seven-card stud, it deals shared cards and gives every player the same community board.
Fixed-limit betting: A betting structure that restricts wagers and raises to predetermined amounts in each round. Seven-card stud is commonly played with fixed bet sizes that increase on later streets.
Bring-in: A forced opening bet in stud poker, usually made by the player showing the lowest upcard. It starts betting on third street before players can choose to fold, call, or raise.
Five-card hand: A poker hand consisting of five cards, evaluated under standard hand-ranking rules. Seven-card stud players must choose exactly five cards for their final hand.
Omaha poker: A community-card poker variant in which players must use exactly two private cards and three board cards. Its fixed use of hole and board cards contrasts with choosing any five of seven personal cards.
High-low split: A poker pot structure that awards portions to the strongest high hand and qualifying low hand. It underlies stud formats that add a low-hand contest to the standard high game.
Fourth street: The second betting round in seven-card stud, after each remaining player receives another face-up card. A second exposed card gives players more information before betting resumes.
Upcard: A card dealt face up and visible to every player at the table. Upcards reveal part of each opponent's holding and determine the bring-in.
