Swiss national identity

Swiss national identity is a shared sense of belonging shaped by Switzerland’s political institutions, languages, regional cultures, and history. It combines national attachment with strong local and cantonal loyalties.

Swiss federalism: A system dividing political authority between Switzerland’s federal government and its cantons. Cantonal autonomy lets regional identities coexist within a shared political framework.
